A warm and creamy porridge is a wonderful way to start the day! It's quick to prepare, healthy and bursting with valuable vitamins and minerals. The basic recipe consists of just 5 ingredients and can be refined with any number of other ingredients. So it always remains varied and seasonal😊 This porridge creation is particularly beneficial and supportive for digestive problems, especially diarrhea. Apples and bananas are rich in the fiber pectin, which binds excess fluid in the intestines and thus firms up the stool. Blueberries are also an old household remedy for diarrhea - they can be dried and made into a tea or, as in this recipe, eaten as a compote. Of course, there is nothing to stop you from eating this delicious porridge without diarrhea symptoms - either way, it has a digestive regulating effect! At this point, I hope you enjoy trying out the recipe and en Guete😊

Ingredients

Basic recipe

  • 40g gluten-free rolled oats
  • 200ml water or plant milk
  • 1/2 apple, grated
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla bourbon, ground
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of salt

Blueberry compote

  • 100g blueberries (frozen), defrosted
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla bourbon, ground
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp cornflour

Toppings

  • 1/2 banana, sliced
  • 1/4 apple, sliced or diced
  • Granola (optional)

This is how it's done

  1. To make the blueberry compote, heat the blueberries in a small pan. Add the lemon juice, cinnamon and vanilla bourbon and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove 2 tbsp of the juice from the pan and mix with cornflour in a small bowl until smooth. Stir into the simmering blueberries and bring to the boil again. Cover and set aside.
  2. Heat the grated apple in a small pan for 5 minutes. Add the rolled oats, vanilla bourbon, cinnamon, salt and water and simmer over a low heat for a further 5 minutes. In the meantime, cut the banana and apple into slices.
  3. As soon as the porridge is nice and creamy, it can be served. Pour the porridge into a bowl and garnish with blueberry compote, banana and apple slices. If you like, you can also add other toppings.

Remark: If you suffer from diarrhea, I would stick to this recipe and leave out the granola. The porridge with the grated apple, blueberry compote, banana and cinnamon regulates your digestion and helps with diarrhea.
