To kick off the winter season and with it the cold season, I have this healthy, vitamin-rich and immune-boosting porridge for you. The Golden Milk Porridge is actually a combination of the beloved winter drink "Turmeric Latte or Gold Milk" and a classic porridge. A paste is made from turmeric and a few other spices and infused with oat flakes and plant milk. Important: a pinch of pepper should not be missing - it helps the turmeric to unfold its effect. In addition to its vibrant color, turmeric also has a strong anti-inflammatory effect, is full of antioxidants and is a real immune booster. It has long been considered a remedy in Ayurvedic cuisine and is used in particular for gastrointestinal problems and chronic inflammation. I love this porridge and currently make it every day. If you are looking for a warming and comforting breakfast, then Golden Milk Porridge is just the thing for you😊

Preparation time

Cooking time
5 minutes
Portions
2 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, organic
  • 1/4 tsp ginger powder, organic
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of pepper
  • 1/2 tsp gingerbread spice (optional)
  • 40g fine gf. oat flakes
  • 20g tigernut flakes / alternatively: ground almonds
  • 350ml plant-based drink of your choice

In addition

  • Hemp seeds
  • Coconut chips, roasted
  • 1 fig, fresh
  • Pomegranate seeds
  • roasted cedar kernels

This is how it's done

  1. Toast the cedar nuts in a pan without fat until golden brown. Set aside.
  2. Wash and cut the figs into eighths or thin slices.
  3. Melt the coconut oil in a pan over a medium heat. Add the spices, stir to form a paste and fry briefly (approx. 1 minute). Now add the oats and plant milk. Bring to the boil while stirring and simmer for 3 minutes.
  4. In the meantime, prepare your toppings (e.g. pomegranate, coconut chips, hemp seeds, seeds, nuts, fruit).
  5. Arrange the porridge with the toppings in two bowls and serve. If you like, you can add nut butter or some granola on top of the porridge.

Note: You are completely free to choose the toppings. You are also welcome to use other fruit, depending on the season and your taste😊
