Sweet & savory snacks

Something crunchy to nibble on during a cozy movie night is simply a must. But does it always have to be potato chips, popcorn, salted sticks and the like? This super tasty, slightly spicy lupin snack is a great alternative that is also healthy and very high in protein. Sweet lupin seeds with their high-quality protein are a real superfood and give soybeans a run for their money. Their protein content is around 40 grams per 100 grams of protein compared to soybeans, which only contain 12 grams of protein per 100 grams. The cool thing about this snack is that you can season the lupin seeds to your heart's content and they always taste delicious! As always, I hope you have fun trying them out and happy crunching😊

Ingredients

  • 350g precooked lupins (equivalent to 1 jar)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp paprika powder
  • 1/2 tsp curry powder
  • a little sea salt
  • fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)

This is how it's done

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees top/bottom heat.
  2. Drain the lupins in a sieve, wash very thoroughly with cold water and pat dry with a tea towel.
  3. Mix the olive oil with the spices in a bowl.
  4. Mix the lupin seeds with the seasoning oil and spread on a baking tray lined with baking paper. To make them nice and crispy, the lupin seeds should not touch each other.
  5. Now roast the seeds in the oven for approx. 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Then remove from the oven and leave to cool completely.
  7. Enjoy the seeds fresh as a snack or store in a sealed jar. Shelf life approx. 2-3 weeks.
